Caffrey's Warnings
Here are our top tips for your trip to Prague, all said and done Prague is an extremely safe city and if you take just a little care you will have a safe and stress free visit to this wonderfull city.
Never take a taxi parked at any of the ranks near the main tourist attractions (Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Castle Area, Wenceslas Square etc.) these taxi's can be extremely expensive, AAA or City Taxi are the two best companies to use and if you pop into Caffrey's we would be only too happy to call one for you.
Exchanging Money
Prague's exchange offices are notorious for charging extortionate commissions (25 to 30% in some cases) even though they advertise "no commission" our advise is to use the Banks or the ATM's.
Pick Pockets
Pick pockets are opportunists if you dont give them an opertunity then they cant steal from you. Ensure that you take care of your personal belongings and dont leave your jacket or handbag hanging on the back of your chair.
Public Transport
Tram's, Metro's and Buses are not free!!! it is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct ticket and that you validate that ticket. Tickets can be purchased at most newsagents or from vending machines in the metro stations. Tickets cost 32kc and are valid for 90 minutes on any public transport. When you enter the tram or bus you must validate your ticket by stamping it in the yellow boxes in the case of the metro you must validate your ticket before going down the escalator.
